Extinction is the definitive disappearance of some animal or plant species on our planet. It is an irreversible process. Extinctions due to natural causes occurred millions and thousands of years ago, but in recent centuries they have been accelerated by the direct or indirect action of man.
Causes of extinction:
Agricultural expansion, Deforestation, Desertification, Overgrazing, Air, soil and water pollution by herbicides and pesticides, Urbanization , Water pollution: sewer drains, industrial drains, oil spills.
